Rita M. Johnson 1918 - 2011 HOLYOKE - Rita M. (Hebert) Johnson, 93, formerly of Chicopee, died Friday October 28, 2011 at Mount Saint Vincent Nursing Home. Rita was born in Alberta, Canada daughter of the late Amedee J. and Dorothy (Kloskowski) Hebert. She was educated in the Holyoke School System and was a cook for the Lambert Lavoie School in Chicopee, retiring in 1977. She was predeceased by her husband Robert R. Johnson, who died May 24, 2002. Rita was a former communicant of St. Mary's Church in Willimansett, a volunteer at the Holyoke Soldier's Home, was a member of the Holyoke Bowl-A-Drome, the Package Machinery Retirees, St. Mary's Women's Guild, where she was a past Vice President, and the Chicopee Senior Center. She is survived by a son Robert E. Johnson and his wife Sally of Chicopee, three daughters; Barbara A. Rudzik and her husband Thomas of Williamsburg, Patricia J. Garczynski and her husband Robert of Springfield, and Susan M. Nordeste and her husband Jerry of Assonet, MA. She leaves nine grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; and a brother Leo Hebert and his wife Dorothy of Holyoke. Rita was predeceased by two sisters and three brothers. The funeral will be held Wednesday at 8:30am from the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton St. Holyoke, followed by Mass at Blessed Sacrament Church at 9:30am. Burial will follow at the MA Veteran's Cemetery in Agawam at 11am.
