Rita M. (Rigoli) Flanagan of Framingham formerly of Waltham, Wellesley, Natick, and California, passed away early Wednesday morning, February 19, 2014 at her home surrounded by her family. She was 79. Born and raised in Waltham to the late Francesco and Anna (Veneziano) Rigoli. Rita moved from Waltham to Wellesley shortly after being married to her beloved late husband Paul W. Flanagan. She also spent many years in California, and finally in Framingham. Rita will be remembered by her family and friends as a truly beautiful person inside and out who gave generously from her heart and hand. She had an indelible smile and loved to meet new people and try new things; she was an adventurous person who would jump in a pool without knowing how to swim. A humble woman who always honored her word and commitments. In her seventies she learned to square dance and became an artist. She loved singing, dancing, painting, and traveling; all with her best friend Tom Swan. Together they lived their lives to the fullest. She also enjoyed gardening, taking long walks or drives with her friends, and going to the theater. She enjoyed reading, playing cards, and Scrabble. During her time of sickness she was taken care of by her many friends and especially her beloved nieces. She is survived by her loving children Thomas J. Flanagan and his wife Kelli of Alaska, Nancy Nielsen and her husband Jerry of California, and cherished grandmother of Ben Bachand, Jerry Nielsen, Jr., Kyle Nielsen, and Matthew Flanagan. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Paul Flanagan. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend funeral services from the Brasco & Sons Memorial, 773 Moody St., WALTHAM., Monday, February 24, at 9 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial in celebration of Rita's life at Sacred Heart Church, 311 River St., at 10 a.m. Visiting hours will be held Sunday from 2 - 6 p.m. Parking attendants will be on duty. Expressions of sympathy may be made in Rita's memory to the Natick Community Center, 117 East Central St, Natick, MA 01760, the Framingham Callahan Senior Center, 535 Union Ave., Framingham, MA 01702 or a ;(function() { var adKeyValue = 't='; adKeyValue += escape('clio=COYCADA'); adKeyValue += escape('&cobrand=metrowestdailynews'); adKeyValue += escape('&linktext=charity of your choice'); adKeyValue += escape('&linkurl=http://www.legacy.com/obituaries/metrowestdailynews/condolences-charities.aspx?keyword=coycada&pid=169784605'); adKeyValue += escape('&fn=Rita'); adKeyValue += escape('&ln=Flanagan'); var adClkUrl = 'http://pubads.g.doubleclick.net/gampad/jump?iu=/423686928/prod/obit-aff/obit-standard/clio-inline-1&' + adKeyValue + '&sz=1x1&c=386646101'; var adImpUrl = 'http://pubads.g.doubleclick.net/gampad/ad?iu=/423686928/prod/obit-aff/obit-standard/clio-inline-1&' + adKeyValue + '&sz=1x1&c=386646101'; document.write("charity of your choice"); }()); . www.brascofuneralhome.com.
