Rita H. Bernier -- May 12, 1949 - May 18, 2005 -- WOODSTOCK -Rita H. Bernier, 56 of Rocky Hill Road, Woodstock, CT, died Wednesday morning at the Day Kimball Hospital in Putnam after a long illness. She was the beloved wife of Arthur L. Bernier, they were married May 29, 1999. She was born May 12, 1949 in Putnam, daughter of the late Elwin H. and Jeannette (Leblanc) Davis. She worked as the Footwear Manager at the Putnam Kmart. She also had worked as a CNA at the former Community Home and Health Care in Pomfret; Crabtree & Evelyn in Woodstock; at the Fox Woods Casino in Retail. She was last employed at the Milford Kmart in Milford, CT. She made her home in Woodstock for the last eight years, she had made her home in Putnam most of her life. She was a communicant of ST Mary Church in Putnam and a member of the Putnam VFW Ladies Auxiliary.She leaves in addition to her husband, her children: Kevin A. Dupre and his wife Marie of Danielson; Andrew S. Dupre and his wife Deidre of Hagerstown, MD; Jennifer L. Dupre of Woodstock; two step sons: Mark Bernier and his wife Lori Ann of Thompson; Arthur Bernier and his wife Cheryl of Putnam, a brother: William J. Davis and his wife Irene of Putnam; grandchildren Amber and Renee Dupre; twins: Colin and Devin Dupre; April Bernier and Colt Foley; Keri Bernier. She was predeceased by two siblings Evelyn Lamothe in 1991; Donald Davis in 2001. Rita was a devoted and loving mother to her children, they were her life and made her happy.A Graveside Service will be held Saturday at 12:00 Noon in Munyan Cemetery, Munyan and East Putnam Road, East Putnam.
