Richard Francis Murphy, 75OLD ORCHARD BEACH - Richard F. Murphy, 75, of Wild Dunes Way, Old Orchard Beach, died there peacefully on July 6, 2005. He was born July 27, 1929 in Biddeford, the son of Edward and Katherine Mullin Murphy. Mr. Murphy graduated from Biddeford High School and later served in the U.S. Army in Germany during the Korean War. For many years, Richard worked for the Saco Lowell Shops as the tool controller retiring from there after 30 years in the mid-1980s. His most recent place of employment was with the YMCA in Portland. Mr. Murphy enjoyed photography, history, travel and was an avid reader.Survivors include two sons, Michael Murphy of Chesapeake, Va., and Tim Murphy of Saco; a brother, Robert Murphy of Biddeford; four grandchildren, Shawn Murphy, Morgan Murphy, Jillian and Tenley Murphy; and his wife of many years, Rita Murphy of Sanford. A graveside service will be held Monday at 10:30 a.m., at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Saco. Father Sam Henderson of Trinity Episcopal Church will officiate.
