FAIRFIELD -- The Rev. Richard Edouard St. Cyr died April 18, 2005, at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Rectory in Fairfield. Father was born in Lewiston on Sept. 12, 1940, the son of the late Sarto St. Cyr and Exilia Duois St. Cyr. Father's education started at St. Peter & Paul Grammar School in Lewiston, Seminary of Sherbrooke, Quebec. After graduation, Father went on to St. Charles Seminary, also in Sherbrooke. Father also studied theology at St. Mary's in Baltimore. Father was ordained May 21, 1966, by the Most Reverend Daniel J. Feeney, at the cathedral in Portland. Father's assignments started June 4, 1966, at Peaks Island in St. Christopher's. From there, he was assigned to many parishes throughout Maine, including St. Francis Parish in Waterville on Sept. 10, 1966; St. John's Parrish, Rumford, on Oct. 27, 1967; and St. Andre Parish in Biddeford on June 30, 1970. He was administrator of Our Lady Queen of Peace in Berwick starting on Sept. 3, 1977; temporary administrator of St. Louis Parish in Limestone, from Nov. 3, 1977; pastor of St. Anthony Parish of Jackman, Jan. 13, 1978; pastor of Our Lady of the Rosary of Sabbatus; administrator of the St. Francis Mission of Greene, June 22, 1982; pastor of St. Louis Parish, Fort Kent, on Aug. 1, 1986; pastor of Notre Dame de Lourdes in Saco on Aug. 1, 1988; pastor of St. Mary's Parish in Lewiston; pastor of St. Louis Parish in Auburn on July 1, 1998; pastor of St. Augustine Church in Augusta on June 29, 2000; and pastor of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Fairfield on July 1, 2004. He also was chaplain of Knights of Columbus.Father St. Cyr was predeceased by a brother, Bert St. Cyr.Survivors include three brothers, Ronald St. Cyr of Lewiston, Raymond St. Cyr and his wife, Anita, of Lewiston and Roger St. Cyr of Lewiston; two sisters, Anita Breton of Lewiston and Sister Rachel St. Cyr of Old Orchard Beach; and two nephews and three nieces.Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church on High Street in Fairfield, where a memorial Mass will follow at 7.p.m. at the church, with the Most Rev. Joseph Gerry, celebrant. Visitation will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Lewiston, and visitation will continue from 9 to 11 a.m Friday at the church, where a Mass of Christian burial will follow at 11 a.m., with the Most Rev. Bishop Richard Malone, celebrant.
