BARTON, Richard Charles Passed away peacefully at home on April 7, 2005, in the presence of his family. He was born in Brixton Hill, near London (England) on May 12, 1921, to Charles Frederic and Mary Letitia Driffield (Lee). He was a loving husband to Marion Grace, father to the children of his first marriage, Susan and husband David Schroder (Edmonton), Pamela Margaret and husband Douglas James (Calgary), and John Stuart (Victoria), brother to Elizabeth Mary and husband Reverend David Torrance (North Berwick, Scotland), stepfather to Gregory Bannoff and wife Cally Chornenky (Ottawa) and Geoffrey Bannoff and partner Randy Patterson (Vancouver), grandfather to Jennifer (Schroder) and husband Derek Brown (Spruce Grove, Alta) and Megan (Schroder) and husband Jacob Blackwelder, (Green River, Ut.), stepgrandfather to Sarah and Alexis (Ottawa), and great-grandfather to Christopher and Alexander (Spruce Grove). Throughout his nearly 84 years, Richard lived in the present, showing interest and curiosity in people and the world near and far. He died proud of his children, loved by his immediate and extended families, and in love with his wife, with whom he shared an abiding affection until his final breath, and beyond. A funeral was held on Monday, April 11, 2005, at St. Luke's Anglican Church in Saanich. Donations may be made in lieu of flowers to Pacific Victoria or the Victoria Hospice Society. 65932
