Obituary of Reverend-Clarence Jackson


AUGUSTA, Ga. - Reverend Clarence Jackson, 82, of Hazel Street, Augusta, formerly of Parson Street, Atlanta, entered into rest April 2, 2005 in Atlanta. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM Saturday, April 9, 2005 at Union Baptist Church, Sparta. Rev. Jackson, a native of Hancock County, was a member of Israel Baptist Church, Atlanta. He pastored several churches in Georgia, Holly Spring Baptist Church, Sandersville, until retirement, and Young Macedonia Baptist Church, North Augusta, S.C., for several years. Survivors include his wife, Mattie V. Combs-Jackson, Augusta; two daughters, Marie Jackson and Yvonne Denise Williams, Atlanta; three sons, Clarence B. Jackson, Jr., Atlanta, Sterling J. Combs and Justin M. V. Combs, Augusta; brother, Eugene T. Lott, Brooklyn, N.Y.; sister, Bernice Joseph, Brooklyn, N.Y.; uncle, Kelly Shivers, Chicago; aunt, Annie Reynolds, Augusta; devoted cousin, Louise Cody, Augusta; mother-in-law, Annie B. Baughn; sister -in-law, Frances V. Bussey, Augusta; devoted and special friends, Essie L. (Donald) Johnson, Appling, S.C. and Jonathan 'Bo' McGahee, Atlanta; sisters-in-law, Betty Lott and Ruby Cunningham; five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
