SMITH, Robert Timothy (the Reverend) Died peacefully at home on May 18, 2008, from cancer. A special thank you to Dr. David Attwell for the support and care he provided to Rob and his family. Rob was born on February 13, 1951, in Langley, BC, the youngest son of Geoff and Jara Smith, United Church missionaries. Raised in Northern Rhodesia/Zambia from 1953 to 1966, he returned to Victoria, graduated from Belmont High in 1968, attended UVic for two years and graduated from SFU in 1972. In 1980, he embarked on a 25 year career in the United Church, earning degrees from the Vancouver School of Theology. Initially he worked as a lay Christian Educator in three Vancouver churches (West Point Grey, Canadian Memorial, Shaughnessy Heights) and later as an ordained minister on Vancouver Island (Shawnigan Lake/ Mill Bay, Oak Bay United). Rob is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Lois Cumming; daughters Antonia (Steve) and Roberta (Keith); grandson Robert Owen; and brothers Stephen (Norma) and David (Julie). He will be remembered as compassionate, articulate, witty and kind. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather, and a good man. Private family service by request. 471267
