OVID – The Rev. Madeline C. Van Horn, of 6436 Iron Bridge Road, passed away at Geneva General Hospital on Thursday (October 20, 2011) at the age of 77.The family would like to invite friends to a memorial Sunday (Nov. 6) at 2 p.m. at Rev. Madeline's home on Iron Bridge Road, which will then be immediately followed by a celebration of her life at the Ovid VFW Post #6200.All are welcome and any contributions in Madeline's memory are greatly appreciated and may be directed to South Seneca Ambulance, PO Box 280, Ovid 14521.Madeline was born April 30, 1934 in Waterloo, a daughter of Robert and Clare (Yackel) Hay. She was a spiritualist minister who believed in healings, miracles and the communication with the so called dead and gave to all, love, light and wisdom. She worked as a cook for the Seneca Army Depot as well as a member of the I.C.E.S.(International Cake Exploration Society). If you had ever seen her work, you could tell how she loved making and decorating cakes for any event, especially when it came to her family.Rev. Madeline is survived by her four children, Leslie (Barbara) Van Horn Sr., David (Charlene) Van Horn, Cynthia (Frederick) Brown and Jeffrey Van Horn; 12 grandchildren, Jonathan, Leslie Jr., Nicole, Anthony, Jason, Stephen, Michael, Danielle, Madeline, Frederick, Sarah and Scott; 12 great-grandchildren; her siblings, Raymond, Paul, Betty, Evelyn and Joann; and several nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her daughter, Sonta Rae Van Horn in 1982; a son, Lewis Van Horn Jr. in 2007; and by her husband of 58 years, Lewis L. Van Horn Sr. in 2010. Herb siblings, Harlow Hay, Dorothy Zona, Helen Dean-Kulsha, Norma Murdock and Virginia Goodman-Alquino.
