January 4, 2007 Rev. John J. Daley, 86, of 4 Burkle St., Oswego, died Thursday in the Oswego Hospital. He was born in Oswego the son of the late George and Ella (Nodda) Daley. Rev. Daley studied for the priesthood at St. Michael's in Toronto, and St. Bernard's inRochester. He was ordained October 19, 1946. Rev. Daley served as parochial vicar at St. Mary's Church in Clinton from 1946 - 1955 and he was the chaplain at the Newman Center at Hamilton College, then as assistant pastor at St. Mary's Church in Oswego from 1955 - 1966. In 1966 until 1973 he was the pastor at St. Augustine's in Baldwinsville. Rev. Daley was pastor of Holy Trinity, Syracuse from 1973 - 1979, and then Our Lady of Angels, Endwell from 1979 to 1981. Rev. Daley served as pastor at St. Mary's, Jamesville from 1981 until his retirement July 1, 1995. Rev. Daley served at Holy Family Church, Fulton as Priest in residence, before moving to Bishop Commons, Oswego where he continued his ministry until Thursday, January 4, 2007. While serving at St. Mary's in Clinton, Rev. Daley was Chaplain for the Knights of Columbus St. Joseph Council No. 5398, Syracuse, and the Knights of Columbus Council No. 1839 Endicott. Rev. Daley was appointed the Faithful Friar of the Steuben Assembly, in Syracuse, and he was the first chaplain at the Nottingham. Rev. Daley was predeceased by his brother, Richard Daley 1972. Rev. Daley is survived by his cousin, Mary Kronenbitter of Oswego, and her family. Calling hours will be Sunday 1 to 9 p.m. at Holy Family Church, West Fourth St., Fulton with a Vigil Mass Sunday 7 p.m. Rev. Daley's Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday 10 a.m. in Holy Family, West Fourth St., Fulton. The arrangements are in the care of the Sugar Funeral Home Inc., 224 West Second St., Fulton.
