Funeral service for the Rev. Charles M. Davis, 81, Daytona Beach, who passed away Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2005, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church of South Daytona. Interment will follow at Daytona Memorial Park. Friends may call and pay their respects Friday from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of South Daytona, 2197 Kenilworth Ave., South Daytona. Rev. Davis, a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, was born in Davis, N.C. He received his Master's of Divinity from Chowan College and his Doctorate of Divinity from Theological Seminary, Louisville, Ky. Rev. Davis served as a Southern Baptist Minister for 56 years. During his career, he served on the Southern Baptist Mission Board in Germany for seven years and led tours to the Holy Land for 28 years. One year, he was honorary guest speaker at the placement of the Peace Pole in Jerusalem. He was a member of First Baptist Church of South Daytona where he served as a Sunday school teacher and was director of the Renewers Group. Rev. Davis enjoyed duck hunting, fishing and was an avid fan of the Atlanta Braves and Miami Dolphins. He is survived by his son, Ritchie, Daytona Beach Shores; sister, Ethel Styron, Sea Level, N.C.; three grandchildren, Dallas, Tracy and Krystal; five great- grandchildren, Christopher, Nicole, Jessica, Dallas and Skylar; great-great-grandson, Bryce J. Davis. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to First Baptist Church of South Daytona. Arrangements are under the direction of Haigh-Black Funeral Home, 167 Vining Court, Ormond Beach.
