Obituary of Regina-Marie-Therese Caron


After being ill with cancer of the pancreas for one year, Régina Marie Thérèse Caron of Earlton died at the Englehart and District Hospital on May 15, 2005. She was born in Plaisance, Papineau, Quebec, on January 6, 1924 to Marie-Alice Malo and Emile Malo. Educated in Plaisance, Papineau she married Clovis Caron in St. Bruno de Guigues, Quebec in 1944 and moved to Earlton that same year. Mrs. Caron was a housewife and mother of nine children, grandmother to 11 and great-grandmother to three. She was a saleslady and manager for Vanda Beauty Counsellor as well as a secretary for her husband Clovis who was an electrician. Mrs. Caron was an active member of St. Jean Baptiste Church, a player, singer and bingo organizer for her church and a member of Le Club de l’Age d’Or #501. Mrs. Caron is survived by her children Lorraine Rocheleau, Louise Joiner, Suzanne Guérin, Michel Caron, Denise Caron, Pierrette Béliveau, Hélène Weldrick, Jean Caron and Diane MacNamara; 11 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and godchild Mélissa Caron; and siblings Angèle Gamache, Lucienne Caya, Emiliene St-Onge, Fernand Malo, Anette Bernard, Françoise McLean, Daniel Malo and Gaétan Malo. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Clovis Caron and her parents Emile and Alice Malo, sister Jeanine Lavoie. The funeral was arranged by McDonald Funeral Home in Englehart with the service conducted Wednesday, May 18 at 11 a.m. by Father Gilles Leblanc at St. Jean Baptiste Church. Pallbearers were Michel Caron Sr., Michel Caron Jr., Jean Caron, Justin Caron, Michel Rocheleau and Michel Guérin. Burial is at the Earlton Catholic Cemetery. Family and friends attending the service from out of town came from Chisasibi, Quebec, London, Hamilton, Palmerston, Sudbury, Collingwood, Timmins and North Bay. In memory contributions to a charity of choice would be appreciated by the family.
