GREENFIELD - Raymond F. Bryant, 76, of Lincoln Street, passed suddenly on Saturday (11-24-12) at Baystate Franklin Medical Center. He was born in Brandon, VT, on April 28, 1936, the son of Claude and Edna (Forest) Bryant. Raymond began his life serving others. He worked for the A&P Grocery Store of Greenfield while attending Greenfield High School, Class of 1954, where he excelled in football and other sports. After high school, he went into the roofing business for Crowley Roofing and worked for Strathmore Paper Co. in Turners Falls. Raymond married the former Carol Scopa in 1955 at St. Mary's Parish in Turners Falls. He began family life in 1956 while continuing to build companies such as Brooks Roofing & Siding for 20 years, Ye Old Minute Man Diner for 10 years, The Clam Shack for 23 years, Grumpy's for six years, and the Hat Trick Snack Shop for 10 years. Raymond spent an additional 88 years traveling up and down the tracks of the B&M Railroad, as well as putting in eight years for the Town of Greenfield Junior High School. Survivors include his wife, Carol (Scopa) Bryant; children, Jeff and his wife Linda, Michael and his partner Shawana, Tim, Shellie and her husband Dave, Joel, Jeremy and his wife Kellie and Patty and her partner Rod. Raymond celebrated his life with so many grandchildren along with 17 great- grandchildren. His grandchildren include: Mandi Lynn, David, Emily, Alex, Tawanna, Nastassia, Brooke, Christopher, Michaela, Cody, Laura, Nichole, Crystal, Chasity, Cassie, Kara, Corey, Kyle, Brandon, Jacob and Ethan. Raymond, along with his wife Carol, provided love and care to 65 foster children throughout his life.Funeral services will be held on Thursday (11-29-12) at 9:15 a.m. at the Kostanski Funeral Home, 220 Federal St., followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 at Blessed Sacrament Church with the Rev. Timothy J. Campoli, pastor, officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.Calling hours will be held Wednesday (11-28-12) from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.Raymond continued his giving even in death by donating skin tissue for burn victims young and old through Life Choice Donor Services.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Franklin County Hockey Association, Attn.: T.J.
