CRAWFORD Ralph John Crawford was born in Jersey City, New Jersey on September 18, 1920. His long and accomplished life ended Sunday, December 13, in Jacksonville, Florida. Mr. Crawford was a decorated combat veteran in World War II, proudly serving in the 70th Infantry Division. Following 20 years in the U.S. Army, he attended New York University, where he also served as an editor for N.Y.U. publications. He then joined the Voice of America in Liberia and covered news stories throughout Africa. He also worked for the U.S. Information Service, serving in cultural, public affairs and information posts in a number of African countries over a span of ten years. He leaves behind his wife of 60 years, Leonie, as well as three children and their spouses, three grandchildren, and one great grand- daughter. He was an active member of DACOR (Diplomatic and Consular Officers, Retired) and of the 70th Infantry Division Association. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
