Rachel L. Thomas East Chicago Rachel L. Thomas, 79, of East Chicago, passed away on Friday, March 26, 2004 at home. Survivors are one son, Houston (Earlean) Thomas of Gary; three grandchildren, Alise McCreae of Gary, Cheryl Thomas of East Chicago and Anthony James (Sherri) Thomas of Cherry Point, N.C.; five great-grandchildren; one sister, Cora Brandford of East Chicago; one brother, Eli (Mildred) Harris of Gary; brother-in-law, Homer Williams Sr., of East Chicago; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was peceded in death by her husband Hugh Thomas, Jr. and son, Anthony W. Thomas Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 31, 2004, 11 AM at St. Mark AME Zion Church, 4200 Alder St., East Chicago, Rev. George C. Walker, Pastor. Interment, Fern Oaks Cemetery, Griffith. Friends may call on Tuesday March 30, 2004 at Hinton & Williams Funeral Home, 4859 Alexander Avenue, East Chicago, from 2 to 4 p.m. and St. Mark AME Zion Church from 6 to 8 p.m.. Mrs. Thomas was a retired Field Tax Auditor for the Indiana Department of Revenue.
