Rachel-L. Smith, born in 1930, spouse of William Smith, daughter of Joseph and Blanche-Bouchard, died on October 11, 2009 at 79 years old. Please consult the obituary here:
Rachel L. Smith, 79 SACO -- Rachel L. Smith, 79, a resident of Saco, passed away Sunday, Oct. 11, 2009, at Huntington Common in Kennebunk. She was born in Biddeford on Oct. 4, 1930, the daughter of Joseph and Blanche Bouchard Dubuc. She graduated from St. Joseph's High School, class of 1950. Rachel was employed by Fisherman's Department Store in Biddeford and also volunteered with the Saco School Lunch Program. She was co-owner of Nichol's & Company in Biddeford with her husband William, retiring in 1983. She was an accomplished pianist and seamstress. She enjoyed cooking and dance. Most of all, she loved to spend time with her family at their gatherings. She was a parishioner of Notre Dame de Lourdes Church of Good Shepherd Parish in Saco. She was predeceased by her husband, William L. Smith, in October of 2001. She was also predeceased by one brother, John Maurice Dubuc and one sister, Fernande Paquette. She is survived by one son, Dan Smith and his wife Pauline of Springvale, one daughter, Patty Smith Villa and her finance Stephen J. Cannella of Richmond, Va.; four grandchildren, Brian and his wife Dana, Michelle, Drew and Robert; and several nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday at Cote Funeral Home, corner of Beach and James Streets, Saco. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Thursday at Notre Dame de Lourdes Church in Saco. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Biddeford. Arrangements are by Cote Funeral Home, Saco.
