Rachel Elizabeth Lee JR Briggs Elementary School student; 10 ASHBURNHAM Rachel Elizabeth Lee, just 10 years old, of Ashburnham, died peacefully in her home, Saturday morning, August 9, 2008, after an 11 month battle with brain cancer. She leaves her Mom and Dad, David and Leslie (Goguen) Lee; her older brother, Jacob; and her two younger sisters, Jessica and Rebecca, all of Ashburnham; her MiMi and PaPa, Chester and Norma (Leger) Goguen of Fitchburg; and her Grammy and Grandpa, John and Nancy (DeCiantes) Lee of Leominster. Her Aunty Stephanie Ackerman and Uncle Brett, cousins, Maddie, Cole and Lydia; Her Aunty Tammy Cormier and Uncle Doug, cousins, Timmy and little Ava; her Aunty Andrea Brideau and Uncle Steve, cousins, Jameson and Shaeyln; and Gram; her great-grandmother, Joan Lee; as well as many friends. Rachel was born on March 28, 1998 and lived in Ashburnham all her short life. She was going into the 5th grade at JR Briggs Elementary School. She was an amazing little girl who fought hard to beat her cancer NEVER once complaining. She loved life and everything it had to offer. She was an exceptional artist which was her passion. A talented and speedy athlete enjoying all sports especially soccer, basketball and skiing. She was very intelligent, missing only 2 questions on her MCAS! She had a fantastic sense of humor and a quick wit, a radiant smile and she exuded happiness. There are no words to express the deep loss that is left with her passing. We are deeply saddened and will never understand why someone with such a zest for life was taken from this world so soon. We will forever miss you Rachel. LEE The family has chosen to have a memorial service on Wednesday August 13, 2008, at 10:00 a.m., at St. Joseph Church, 49 Woodland Street, Fitchburg 01420. There are no calling hours. The Brandon Funeral Home, 305 Wanoosnoc Road, Fitchburg is assisting the family. In lieu of flowers, donations are being asked to be made to the Rachel Lee Memorial fund in care of Athol Savings Bank, 52 Main Street, Ashburnham MA 01430. Proceeds to be used to fund art enrichment programs at JR. Briggs Elementary School.
