Ruby Hamby Johnson, 82, of Florida, formerly of Gainesville, passed away on Monday, June 7, 2010, at William Childs Hospice House in Palm Bay, Fla., following a sudden illness.Graveside services are scheduled for Thursday, June 10, 2010, at 11 a.m. in Alta Vista Cemetery. Dr. Tom Smiley and Dr. Jerry Gill will officiate. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 9, 2010, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.Mrs. Johnson was born July 10, 1927, in Griffin to the late Guy Roy Sledge and Epsie Mae Cook Sledge. She was a homemaker and a member of Lakewood Baptist Church. Ruby was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband of 40 years, Thomas P. Hamby; her son, Thomas Michael Hamby; and her brother, Roland Sledge.Mrs. Johnson is survived by her husband of four years, Daniel M.
