Ruby “Bettye” Elizabeth Adams, 78, passed away Monday, February 9, 2015.Bettye was from Etta, MS and attended Macedonia High School in MS. She was married by Bro. Autrey on April 16, 1955 in Hickory Flats, MS to the love of her life, Patrick Adams, Jr. In her early years she worked as a secretary for an insurance company and then spent the last 59 years as a housewife. Bettye was a devoted mother and a member of the Philadelphia Baptist Church in Etta, MS. She was preceded in death by her husband, Patrick Adams, Jr., parents, Robert E. Lee Jr. and Clara Lee, two brothers, Jesse J. Lee and Robert E. Lee III. She is survived by two daughters, Marsha Halliday of Newcastle, WY, Suzanne Yates of Bartlett, TN; one son, Patrick Adams III of Memphis, TN; two sisters, Christine Bryant of Sledge, MS, Virginia Nelms of New Albany, MS; six grandchildren, Theresa Havener, Daniel Halliday, Sara Haugen, Catherine Halliday, Joanne Pope, Karen Yates; and two great-grandchildren, Scott Pope and Michael Pope III. The family received guests Wednesday, February 11 at Family Funeral Care, 4925 Summer Ave. from 5-7 p.m. A celebration of her life was held Thursday, February 12 at the funeral home at 12 p.m., with burial in Philadelphia Baptist Church Cemetery in Etta, MS.
