Obituary of Robert-Jackson Elliott

ELLIOTT, ROBERT JACKSON, Robert Jackson Elliott, Sr. age 68 of Cassia, FL passed away on Thursday, June 17, 2004 at James Haley Veterans Hospital in Tampa, FL. Born on May 1, 1936, in Wilkes Barre, PA, Bob was the late son of Robert Fuller Elliott and Helen (Stevens) Elliott Reinhart. After graduating from Wyalusing High School in 1955, he entered the United States Navy, serving from 1955 to 1965. In 1969, he and his family moved to Jenningsville, PA where he owned and operated his own tractor-trailer for many years. In 1985 he and his family moved to Cassia. Bob worked with his longtime friend Richard Wilber in Sanford, FL until his retirement 1999. He belonged to the Antique Truck Historical Society and had just returned from their annual meeting and truck show in Fontana, CA, which he had been very happy to attend. He was also a huge fan of NASCAR racing and enjoyed fishing with his friends and family. Bob will be greatly missed by all of his family and friends, especially on race day when they start those engines. He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Joan (Gassner) Elliott; daughters and sons-in-law, RondaLin and David Mooers, Tunkhannock, PA, Jacqueline and Robert Yesuvida, Tunkhannock, PA, Sharon Askew, Louisville, KY, Courtney Gassner, Tavares, Heather Gassner, Eustis; sons and daughters-in-law, Robert Jackson, Jr. and Tonya Elliott, Rome, PA, Russell and Mary Jo Elliott, Springville, PA, Thomas and Mary Elliott, Athens, PA, Edward Elliott, Seattle, WA, Sean and Danielle Gassner, Tavares; 27 grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and six nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister Naomi (Elliott) Jayne Davis; a daughter and son, Dawn and Joseph Robert Elliott; and a granddaughter, Angels Treneice Calloway. A memorial service will be 7PM, June 25, 2004 at the Cassia Baptist Church in Cassia with another service to be held in Pennsylvania at a future time.
