<!-- FH = SCOTT FUNERAL HOME - LOCATION #7107 -->HEATON, Robert L., 84, of Lake Placid, Fla., went to be with his Lord Tuesday evening, December 13, 2011, at his residence. He was born October 16, 1927, in Warwick, R.I., to parents Alfred and Elva (Colwell) Heaton. Mr. Heaton served his country in the U.S. Navy as a ships radio operator during both World War II and Korea. Robert was a retired manager from Eastern Airlines with 30 years of service in the avionics department. He was a 10 year volunteer as a communications officer with the Civil Defense in Homestead, Fla. He moved to Lake Placid 18 years ago from Homestead. Mr. Heaton enjoyed working with his computers and his ham radios and loved spending time with his family and friends. Mr. Heaton was a member of the Lake Placid Elks Lodge 2661 and the Highlands County Amateur Radio Club, and was of the Methodist faith. Mr. Heaton is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Gerry; daughters, Linda H. Ruiz and Diane K. Dawson; sons, Robert L. Jr., and Richard Allen Heaton; six grand-children; and seven great- grandchildren. The family will receive friends 1-2 p.m. Thursday, December 22, 2011, with funeral services to celebrate Robert's life following at 2 p.m., at the Scott Funeral Home 504 W. Interlake Blvd., Lake Placid. The Rev. Fred Ball will officiate. Military honors by the VFW Post 4300 honor guard will follow the service at the Oak Hill Cemetery.
