Obituary of Robert-C. Elliott

ELLIOTT, ROBERT C. (BOB) - age 82, of Knoxville, walked peacefully through Heaven's gates on Tuesday evening, July 8, 2014, after suffering complications from a stroke he had fourteen months ago. His journey was fulfilled with the desire to reunite with his loved ones that preceded him in death: his father, Tom Elliott; his mother, Gertrude Elliott; twin daughters Merri Jayne, Terri Layne; and grandson, Kent Elliott. Bob was a member of Farragut Christian Church. He was the owner of Home Owners Service Company until his retirement. Bob was a registered tinsmith starting his trade with an apprenticeship at The Smithsonian Institute and continuing that trade as a member of the Oak Ridge Foothills Craft Guild. Bob's passions were gardening and fishing and being a loving and considerate husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. The man known as Papa to his family, will be missed by everyone and we are so elated and thankful that Papa can now rest in peace. Bob is survived by the love of his life, wife, Judith (Judie) Lay Elliott (Nana); sister Nancy Elliott; son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Anna Elliott; daughters and sons-in-law, Robbie and Danny Jelley, Tracy and Joe Rafferty; and daughter, Melissa (Lu) Elliott; grandchildren, Leslie Elliott Griffith and husband Chad, Matthew Jelley and wife Kristen, Laura Jelley Cutter and husband Casey, Emily Jelley Harper and husband Daniel; great-grandchildren, Blythe, Madeline, and Matthew, Jr. Jelley. The family would like to acknowledge the efforts and say thanks to Bob's caregivers, Will Chappell and Moses Richardson for their compassionate care and assistance in making him comfortable each day. As we honor Bob's time on earth, we celebrate his eternal life and the hope everyone has for a brighter day. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Farragut Christian Church 138 Admiral Rd., Knoxville, TN 37934. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, at Stevens Mortuary, Oglewood Avenue at North Broadway. The family and friends will meet 1:45 p.m. Friday, at Lynnhurst Cemetery for a graveside service and interment at 2:00 p.m., with Pastor Jason Warden officiating.
