RICHARD ROGERS Passed away at the Waterford Long Term Care Facility in Oakville on May 30, 2012 at the age of 78, after a long battle with dementia. Beloved husband of Ann for 56 years, loving father of Julie (Randy), Susan and David (Mary) and cherished Grandpa to Nicole, Christine, Brian, Michael and Jonathan. Born in England, Richard was a one-time RAF English boxing champ before immigrating with his wife, Ann in 1964 to Oakville where they raised their family and Richard continued his interest in boxing as an official, coach and President of the Ontario Boxing Association. He was a longtime employee of the Hudson Bay Company - well-liked by his many colleagues, co-workers and customers - and a long-standing member of Hopedale Presbyterian Church. Special thanks to the wonderful, caring staff of the Waterford. Visitation is on Friday, June 1st from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Kopriva Taylor Funeral Home, at 64 Lakeshore Rd. West, in Oakville. A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 2nd at Hopedale Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the Alzheimer Society.
