Ralph Lee Walker, 77, husband of Margaret Jeanette Nelson Walker, died Tuesday, November 25, 2008, at his home. Born in Lexington, N.C., he was the son of the late Helen Walker Ijames. He served in the U.S. Army for more than three years and retired from the U.S. Air Force after more than 20 years of service. While serving in the Air Force, he was a jet mechanic and worked on the SR-71 Blackbird Aircraft at the Beale Air Force Base in Calif. He was a member of Jersey Baptist Church in Lexington, N.C. In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Wynne and Bill Eslick of Vallejo, Calif., Melinda and Brian Russell of Chico, Calif.; and grandchildren, Connor and Mason Scott of Chico, Calif., Kellie Chan and her husband Joel, Jennie Eslick, and Cyndie Eslick, all of Vallejo, Calif. In addition to his mother, he was predeceased by two infant sons, and stepfather, William O. Ijames. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday in the chapel of Gray Mortuary, Pelzer with the Rev. David T. Nelson, Sr. officiating. Burial will follow in the M. J. "Dolly" Cooper Veterans Cemetery with visitation following at the cemetery.
