BURLINGTON, CONN. - Prosper H. Larose, 71, of Burlington, passed on to eternal rest and peace on Sunday, May 3, following a courageous battle with cancer. He was the beloved husband of 48 years of Marilyn (Ellison) Larose. Born in Montgomery, son of the late Paul and Blanche (Smith) Larose, he grew up in Berlin and relocated to Connecticut in 1957. He was employed by M. Swift and Sons in Canton until 1967, when he began his career as a carpenter for Fred Brunoli & Sons in Avon, and in 1984 joined Ensign Bickford Co. of Simsbury as a carpenter until his retirement in 2006. Prosper dearly loved the outdoors, all sports, music by Johnny Cash, and most of all his cherished children and grandchildren: son Mark and his wife Jacqueline of Burlington; son Scott of New Hartford, Conn., and Scott's very loving girlfriend Christine Puglio and her son John of Goshen, Conn.; daughter Laura Powers and her husband Michael of Burlington; and his six beautiful grandchildren, Kimberly Powers, Justin Larose, Jennifer Larose, Robert Powers, Amy Powers and Jason Larose, all of Burlington. He was predeceased by his brother Peter, and is survived by his sister Rita Diego of Montpelier; sister Jeannette Roux and her husband Francis of Bradford, Mass.; brother George of Barre; sister Irene Simard and her husband Neil of Burlington; brother Mark of Alburg; and brother John and his wife Phyllis of Montpelier; and many very special nephews and nieces, and so many very loving and caring friends. Family and friends may gather at The Ahern Funeral Home, 111 Main St., Rt. 4, Unionville, on Saturday, May 9, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Funeral procession from The Ahern Funeral Home will be at 10:30 a.m., followed by the funeral liturgy in the Church of St. Mary Star of the Sea, Unionville, at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Canton South West Cemetery.
