Funeral for Prentis Morris, 62, of Courtland will be Sunday, Jan. 15, 2006, at 2 p.m. at Wheeler Grove Baptist Church with R.C. Borden, Roy Harbin and C.G. Reding officiating and Parkway Funeral Home directing. Burial will be in Courtland City Cemetery. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home. Mr. Morris, who died Thursday, Jan. 13, 2006, at Lawrence Baptist Medical Center, was born April 27, 1943, in Courtland to Lawrence Morris and Versie Parker Morris. He was the superintendent of the City of Courtland Utilities for 22 years. He was a member of Wheeler Grove Baptist Church. Mr. Morris was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Prater Morris, Paul Morris, Parker Morris, Percy Morris and Pete Morris; and two sisters, Ava Carr and Mary Ruth Kasulka. Survivors include his wife, Becky Owen Morris; one son, Marlon Morris and his wife, Donna, of Decatur; one daughter, Michelle Sherrer and her husband, Chris, of Colorado Springs; two grandchildren, Caleb and Christin Sherrer; two brothers, Pelmer Morris of Hillsboro and Phillip Morris of Courtland; and one sister, Minnie Letson of Hillsboro. Pallbearers will be nephews. Honorary pallbearers will be Travis Williams, Mark Thomas, Steve Frye, Pete Houk, Fred Young, Lewis McGregor, Joe Loosier, Ted Reynolds and Roger Odell.
