Polly Lou Whitaker, 71, Sarasota, died June 15, 2002, at her home. She was born Jan. 29, 1931, in West Union, W.Va., and came to Sarasota in 1976 from Dayton, Ohio. She graduated in 1964 from Miami University, Oxford, Ohio, and retired as a teacher at Murlin Heights Elementary School, Dayton. She was a member of the Encore Club and Golden City Women's Club in Sarasota, several bridge and pinochle groups and the Craft Club and Adventure Group. Survivors include her husband, Roy M. Jr.; a daughter, Sheryl A. Marsh of Venice; a son, Michael R. of Sarasota; a brother, William Wiseman of Spring Valley, Ohio; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Palms Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a favorite charity.
