FAIRFIELD -- Phyllis Maxwell Alexander, 80, longtime resident of Front Street in Topsham and most recently a resident of Fairfield, passed away peacefully Sunday, May 16, 2010, in Fairfield at the home of her daughter, Beth Bois.She was born in Sabattus on Aug. 15, 1929, the daughter of Wendall Everett and Mabel Vaughn (Haley) Maxwell.She attended Sabattus schools and graduated from Edward Little High School in Auburn. She went on to complete two years at Farmington State Teachers College (now part of the University of Maine at Farmington). She left college to take care of her father.On Aug. 20, 1949, she married Edward L. Alexander in Sabattus. He died in 1986.She was a homemaker while raising her four children. After her children were grown, she worked at L.L.Bean in corporate mail for 20 years, retiring in 2003. She made many friends while at L.L. Bean. She very much enjoyed meeting with them at their monthly luncheons.She enjoyed knitting, sewing, and being in the company of her family which especially brought great joy to her. She was very proud of her family. She was an avid Red Sox fan and finally attended a game in Boston with her sons in 2006.Phyllis was predeceased by her sister, Mavis Carlene, age 14 months, who died in a tragic accident. Her mother died only three months later, which left just Phyllis and her father. Her father went on to live with Phyllis and her family.She is survived by her four children, son Bruce Alexander and his wife, Susan, of Baltimore; grandson Bennett Alexander and granddaughter Ami Alexander; son Steven Alexander and his wife, Robbie, of Belair, Md.; grandsons Mark Alexander and Philip Alexander; son Jeffrey Alexander and his wife Becky of Nashua, N.H.; granddaughters Jessica Alexander and Kristen Alexander; daughter Beth Bois and her husband, Daniel, of Fairfield; grandsons Mitchell Bois of Portland, Evan Bois, Caleb Bois, Drew Bois and Austin Bois, all of Fairfield.The family would like to extend a special thank-you to Barbara Finch. She has been wonderful.Visiting hours will be held from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 7, at the family lot in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Pleasant Hill Road, Sabattus, where a graveside service will follow at 11:30 a.m.In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to HealthReach Hospice in Waterville, c/o MaineGeneral Health Office of Philanthropy, P.O.
