<!-- FH = 62 --><!-- DisplayFullObituaryText -->Carter, Phillip Dwayne,62, of Shepherdsville, KY, died on August 16, 2014. He was born on February 11, 1952 to the late Robert and Hattie Pearl Carter. A gifted craftsman, musician, carpenter, and mechanic, he brought beauty and power to most everything he touched. All who knew him as a classic car enthusiast, a handyman, and a thirty-seven year employee of Taylor Battery Company also knew his warmth of spirit, his generosity, and his devotion to family. More profound still, they knew his passion for life and deep-seated resiliency, which he demonstrated most memorably during his decade-long battle with cancer. His tenacity amazed us, his grace inspires us, and we will mourn him as long as we live. Although he died too young, we are thankful for the fullness of the days we shared with him. We will carry them in our hearts.He is survived by Patty Carter, his wife of 42 years, and his children Kelly Sperry (Robert) and Chris Carter (Beth); grandchildren, Ellis, Jonah, and Ben; siblings, Kelly Carter (Georgia), Beverly Mitchell-Person (Rick), Larry Carter and his daughters Taylor and Madison, Pam Cain (Mark). Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, August 19, 2014 at Schoppenhorst Underwood, and Brooks Funeral Home (Preston Highway at Brooks Road; use John Harper entrance) with burial in Brookland Cemetery. Friends may pay their respects on Monday, August 18, from 2pm until 8pm at Schoppenhorst.
