SPRINGVALE — Philip V. Morin, 87, of George Street in Springvale, died at home on June 21, 2009.He was born on July 23, 1921, in Sanford, a son of Ernest and Flavie (Boisvert) Morin, Sr.He attended local schools.In 1940, Philip became a member of the Civilian Conservation Corp and worked in Camden and South West Harbor. Following his commitment, Mr. Morin enlisted in the United States Navy during World War II and was honorably discharged with the rank of Shipfitter, Third Class.In 1942, Philip married his sweetheart, Irma L. Cordeau, and they shared 55 years together before her death in 1997.Philip was a welder and worked at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard.For relaxation, Philip loved to go hunting, fishing and camping. He took several trips to Alaska.Mr. Morin was a lifetime member of the V.F.W.He was a parishioner of St. Therese of Lisieux at Notre Dame Church in Springvale.Family survivors include two sons, Paul J. Morin and wife, Priscilla, and Gene P. Morin and wife, Sally; two sisters, Nancy C. Morin and Pauline M. Pillsbury; 6 grandchildren, Brian Morin and wife, Shari, Andrew Morin, Jody Farina, Jason Pillsbury, and Heath and Troy Morin; 6 great-grandchildren; and two sisters-in-law, Arline Moreau and Rita Morin.He was predeceased by three grandchildren, Jeannie Morin, Gina Morin and Guy Morin; his two brothers, Ernest Jr. and Raymond Morin; and his two sisters, Leoni Probst and Ernestine Robbins.A private graveside service will be held at Notre Dame Cemetery.To leave a message of condolence for the family, please visit www.autumngreenfuneralhome.com.The Autumn Green Funeral Home, of 47 Oak Street in Alfred, is respectfully handling arrangements.
