Philip Dow MacAllister, 71, of Mexico Beach, Fla, passed away peacefully at Covenant Hospice on November 10, 2014. He was 5 minutes shy of his 72nd birthday. He was born in Maine and retired to Mexico Beach in 1989 after completing 29 years of service in the military. Phil's love of the Gulf was a perfect fit for his newfound second career as Mexico Beach's Harbor Master.Phil bravely battled and lost his fight to cancer but we are proud of him for fighting so hard. He now joins June, his beloved wife of 47 years, who preceded him in passing in 2011.He is survived by his daughter Heather (Scott), son Craig (Kim) and 4 grandchildren, Savannah, Skylar, Zachary and Hannah. He is also survived by his brother Sonny (Maggie) and nieces and nephews in Virginia and in England, as well as his dogs Mullet and Molly. Lastly, Phil is survived by many wonderful friends in Mexico Beach who he considered to be part of his family.A Celebration of Life will be held in Mexico Beach in April of 2015. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Phil's name may be made to the humane society in Port St. Joe or to Covenant Hospice in Panama City.
