PHELAN-EHLERS-Anne Marie, age 48, of Easton, cherished wife of Robert J. Ehlers, died Monday August 21, 2006. Anne Marie was born in Bridgeport in July of 1958 and was raised in Black Rock. She graduated from St.Ann's parish grammar school, Lauralton Hall, and went on to recieve her BA from Merrimack College and an MBA from Pace University. Anne Marie was a marketing executive with NYNEX and later Verizon for 17 years before becoming the Director of Marketing and Communication for the Yale University Development Office. She was an active volunteer with the Jesuit Volunteer Corps, Big Brothers and Sisters, and the Easton Public Library. In addition to Rob (a former resident of Huntington, LI), her devoted husband of 16 years, Anne Marie is survived by her parents, Nan and John Phelan, of New Milford; her sisters, Kate Phelan-Collins, and her husband, Jack, of Old Lyme, Betsy Blagys, and her husband, Bill, of Black Rock, her brother, John Phelan, and his wife, Michelle, of Fairfield; Rob's mother, Carol Ehlers, of Madison; Rob's brothers and sisters. Additionally, Anne Marie was the favorite aunt of all of her many nieces and nephews. She had already survived one bout with cancer, a neuroblastoma, as an infant. During her recent three year struggle with pancreatic cancer, she was an inspiration to her family, friends, and colleagues as well as to the medical teams that treated and supported her at Memorial Sloan-Kettering and Yale New Haven Hospital. Her constant positive outlook and fighting spirit were infectious to all around her. Calling hours were held in the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home, 1209 Post Road, in Fairfield Center. Anne Marie's Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday at 11am DIRECTLY in St. Ann's Church, 481 Brewster Street, Bridgeport. Her burial will follow in Oak Lawn Cemetery.
