GARDINER, Maine Peter B. Johnson, 79, formerly of Delmar, N.Y., died Wednesday, February 5, 2003 at the Robinson Health Care Facility in Gardiner. He was born in Utica, NY on April 17, 1923, a son of Chester and Lemina Pollard Johnson. Peter was educated in New York schools and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II in the medical corps serving in the Pacific Theatre. He retired in 1988 after many years of government service for the State of New York. He enjoyed traveling, high school football and big band music. His wife, Nancy Morris Johnson who died on March 3, 1999, predeceased Peter. He is survived by two-step daughters, Kathleen Anagnostis and her husband Louis of Bernardsville, N.J. and Diane Davalla and her husband Richard of Gardiner and Cape Coral, Fla.; a nephew, Bruce Johnson of Atlanta, Ga. and a niece Victoria Johnson of Ga.; four step-grandchildren, four step-great-grandchildren and cousins. A graveside service will be held in the spring in the family lot in Bethlehem Cemetery, Delmar N.Y. Arrangements are under the care of Staples Funeral Home, 53 Brunswick Ave., Gardiner.
