GAFFNEY, SC-- Pearlie Mae Wilkins Phillips, 89, a resident of Peachtree Centre, went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, April 26, 2006 after a brief illness at Upstate Carolina Medical Center.Born on May 31, 1916 in Spartanburg County, she was the daughter of the late John Laxton Wilkins and Lillie Mae Lee Wilkins and widow of the late Amos Phillips. She was a retired LPN, having worked at Cherokee Memorial Hospital as well as Mary Black Hospital. Mrs. Phillips was a member of Cherokee Avenue Baptist Church.Surviving are three sons, Larry D. Phillips and wife, Wanda of Little River, SC, Terry K. Phillips and wife, Donna of Spartanburg, SC and Tommy G. Phillips of Gaffney, SC; three brothers, William A. Wilkins and wife, Toni of Spartanburg, Robert E. (Spide) Wilkins and Charles (Dickie) Wilkins, both of Pacolet; seven grandchildren: Susan P. Harbrecht and husband, Joel of Lexington, SC, Allison P. Dozier and husband, Darrell of Hartsville, SC, Kenny Phillips and wife, Kim of Spartanburg, Thomas and Katie Phillips of Spartanburg, SC, Julie Phillips of Gaffney and Michael Phillips of York, SC; five great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friend, Hilda Houston. Mrs. Phillips was preceded in death by a sister, Margie Wilkins and also two brothers, J. W. Wilkins and John Earl Wilkins.The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. Friday, April 28, 2006 at Blakely Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 p.m. at the Blakely Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Dr. Clyde Thomas and Rev. Stuart Kersey. Entombment will follow in Frederick Memorial Gardens.Pallbearers will be Grandsons, Kenneth Blake, Thomas Harvey, James Michael Phillips, Jim Cudd, Bobby Wilkins and Ronnie Gardner.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gaffney Meals on Wheels, P.
