Pearl-Evelyn Johnson, born in 1948, spouse of Elden-R Johnson, daughter of Charles and Bunny, mother of Elden, died on July 20, 2014 at 66 years old. Please consult the obituary here:
Pearl Evelyn Johnson passed away peacefully with her husband at her side on Sunday evening, July 20, 2014 in Bradenton Florida. She was born in Burlington Vermont to Charles and Bunny Parmelee. She and her husband were high school sweethearts and celebrated 66 years of marriage. Together they raised five children four boys and a girl in Waterford Michigan. That was enough to keep anyone busy, but Pearl was able to complete both her Bachelors and Masters degrees from Michigan State University in early Childhood Education. She worked for 25 years as a Kindergarten Teacher for Waterford Township Schools. She was a well-loved teacher who touched the hearts of many young pupils. Pearl grew up in Vermont, and Holden Massachusetts, before moving to Michigan to raise a family and then retirement near family in Plymouth Ma. She spent her final years at Tree Lakes Resort in Palmetto Florida making many dear friends. Pearl will be remembered for her loving kindness, devotion, creativity, and mostly for her infectious laugh. She loved baking delicious breads and cookies and giving them to friends. She was an avid quilter. Her quilting expertise brought her many accolades. She ranked as a quilt judge for shows, but what she really liked doing was making beautiful little quilt projects and giving them to all her friends. She would come up with the craziest reasons to be able to give a friend a quilt or a loaf of bread or cookies. Then she would drag her husband off to deliver them and make everybody laugh. Pearl was always an early riser, and would walk many miles each day to see the sun rise. She enjoyed wildlife and had a special love for the creatures living in the pond near her home, especially the turtles, fish, and frogs. Everyday she would call them and they would swim all distances to be near her at the waters edge. She is survived by devoted husband Elden R Johnson, of Bradenton Florida, children; Elden Jr. of Anchorage Alaska, Mark of Chicago, Kurt of Drayton Plains, Michigan, Joy Johnson James of Fairfield, Iowa and Donald, of Katy, Texas. She had 10 grand children, one grand daughter born on the day she died, and sister Ruth Rawlins of Little Rock, Arkansas. There will be a celebration of life ceremony at Tree Lakes RV Resort in November at a date to be determined. Her ashes will be interred later at Sarasota National Cemetery with her husband.
