Pearl Bradley Newton, 95, of 619 Amberwood Road, wife of the late J. Thomas Newton, died Wednesday Jan. 9, 2002, at Cannon Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Newton was born in Pickens County. She was the daughter of the late John and Janie Holland Bradley. Mrs. Newton was a homemaker and member of Flat Rock Baptist Church. Surviving are one daughter, Janie N. Watson, of Pickens; and four sons, Harold T. Newton and his wife Alene, of Pickens, Wade Carl Newton and his wife Leola, of Liberty, Willie D. Newton and his wife Marge, of Easley, and George W. Newton and his wife Patsy, of Six Mile. Also surviving are ten grandchildren; and fifteen great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. today, Jan. 11, 2002, at the chapel of Dillard Memorial Custom Funerals, with burial at Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends prior to the service, from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Flat Rock Baptist Church, 115 Slab Bridge Rd., Liberty, SC 29657; or Praters Creek Baptist Church, 621 Praters Creek Rd., Pickens, SC 29671. The family will be at 619 Amberwood Rd., Pickens, SC 29671.
