Age 88, of the city of Tonawanda, October 10, 2004, in Kenmore Mercy Hospital, after a long illness; beloved mother of Fordyce (Ernestine) Ball of Elkland, PA, Rev. James (Patricia) Ball of Brookings, OR, Ron (Judy) Ball of Horsehead, NJ, and Vicki (Jack) Weiss of North Tonawanda and Michael; grandmother of 15 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Anita Baker. Mrs. Smith was a former resident of the Sheridan Manor Nursing Home. She loved playing Bingo and cards; she loved doing crafts and was an avid sports fan. Friends may call at the FRETTHOLD FUNERAL HOME INC., 1241 Oliver St. at Ward Rd., in North Tonawanda on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Monday at 10:00 AM, the Rev. James Ball will officiate. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
