->AMITY -- Paul Lewis Burgess, 51, died Aug. 31, 2008, at his home.He was born in Augusta on Oct. 8, 1956, a son of Richard and Shirley Harvey Burgess, and attended Portland schools.He married Joan E. Jipson in Portland on Aug. 10, 1977.As a young man, he served both in the Marines and Army.Paul worked most of his life as a truck driver and, in the early 1990s, founded P.L. Burgess & Son Trucking.Paul was an avid hunter, fisherman, pool player and enjoyed playing cribbage with his friends.He is survived by his wife, of Amity; his parents, of Sidney; a daughter, Kristy and her husband, Peter Mills, of Buxton; a son, Paul Francis Burgess and his fiancée, Kim, of Biddeford; a brother, Del Burgess, of Sidney; and three grandsons, Nathan, Benjamin and Aaron Mills.Friends may visit from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Brackett Funeral Home, 29 Federal St., Brunswick. A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Donald Davenport officiating.
