NEW ALBANY MARTIN, PAUL L., 85, passed away Sunday, at Floyd Memorial Hospital. He was a native of Elizabeth, IN, an Army Veteran of World War II and a retired core drill Operator for the Corps of Engineers. He was a Life Member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #1693, the American Legion Bonnie Sloan Post and the Disabled American Veterans. He was a member of St. John United Presbyterian Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Susie Pellman Martin, three brothers, Fredrick, Bryan and Robert Martin, and a sister, Henrietta Wilson. Survivors include his wife, Awanda O'Bannon Martin; a son, Paul Anthony Martin of Jeffersonville, IN; two brothers, Cyrus Martin of Elizabeth and David Martin of New Albany; and two sisters, Roberta Woertz of Linton, IN, and Grace Wilson of Elizabeth. His funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Market Street Chapel of Seabrook Dieckmann & Naville Funeral Homes, with burial in Rose Hill Cemetery in Elizabeth. Visitation will be from noon- 8 p.m. Tuesday. Memorial gifts may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care of Southern Indiana.
