PAUL EDWARD MARTIN, 76 Pastor KNOXVILLE, TN. - age 76 of Knoxville, TN went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 13, 2007 following stroke complications and after a four-year residency at the Shannondale Health Care Center in Knoxville. After serving 11 years in the U.S. Navy, Mr. Martin heeded God's calling to the ministry. Upon completing studies at the Florida Baptist Bible Institute, William Carey College, and a Masters Degree from the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, he then served as pastor of a number of Southern Baptist churches in Florida and New York, including Crystal Lake Baptist Church in Lakeland, FL from 1976 - 1982. A loving husband, father, son, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather, cousin, uncle, pastor, and friend, he is preceded in death by parents Nettie and Homer Martin, and parents-in-law Ted and Chester Roney, of Auburndale, FL. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Sally Martin of Knoxville; son and wife, Michael & Pamela Martin of Thomson, GA; son and wife David & Sharon Martin of Knoxville; son Timothy Martin of Lakeland, FL; son and wife Jeffrey & Susan Martin of Wrentham, MA; granddaughter and husband Melissa & Andrew Connell of Knoxville; grandson and wife Christopher (currently serving in Iraq) & Melanie Martin; grandson Randal Martin of Knoxville; grandson Jonathan Martin of Maryville, TN; granddaughters Sara and Christina Martin of Knoxville and Nicole Bridges of Thomson, GA; great-grandsons Hunter & Hayden Connell of Knoxville; sister and husband Martha & Russ Albritton of Sebring, FL; sister and husband Mary Alice & Ron Palmer of Tallahassee, FL; and sister-in-law and husband Linda & E.J. Brinson of Lakeland, FL. Passions included the love of his family, the work of ministry, helping others to know Christ, as well as being a sports enthusiast. Funeral service will be 12:30 P.M. Friday, March 16, at Rose Mortuary Mann Heritage Chapel in Knoxville, TN, with Rev. Al Royer and Rev. Archie Fendley officiating. Interment to follow at Tennessee Veterans' Cemetery with Full Military Honors conducted by Volunteer State Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to the Gideon Ministry through home churches. www.rosemortuary.com
