Paul C. Ippolito III of Berkeley Heights, N.J., passed away peacefully at his home with his family by his side on Tuesday, March 26, 2013, at the age of 69. The visitation will be held at Paul Ippolito Berkeley Memorial, 646 Springfield Ave., Berkeley Heights, N.J., on Friday, March 29, and Saturday, March 30, from 4 to 8 p.m. both days. A time of remembrance will be held on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at the Church of the Little Flower, 110 Roosevelt Ave., Berkeley Heights, on Monday, April 1, 2013, at 10 a.m. followed by the entombment at St. Teresa's Mausoleum, Summit, N.J. For directions or to send condolences, please visit www.ippolitofuneralhomes.com. Paul was born in East Orange, N.J., to the late Paul Jr. and Angela (nee DiBenedetto) and lived in Orange, N.J., for 30 years before moving to Berkeley Heights in 1973. A graduate of Our Lady of the Valley High School in Orange, he graduated from McAllister School of Embalming in New York City in 1962 and received his funeral practitioner's license in 1965. Paul was the president of Paul Ippolito Memorial Inc. in Orange, Summit, and Berkeley Heights. He worked with his father, Paul Jr., in the Orange establishment until 1973, when he moved to Berkeley Heights to manage the Summit and Berkeley Heights funeral homes. After the passing of his father, Paul Jr., he and his sister, Anne, managed the funeral homes and worked hard to maintain the legacy their father left them. After working extremely hard for 20 years as president of the funeral homes, he was fortunate to have his children come into the family business, which allowed him to be able to enjoy more time on the golf course, as golf was his passion. Paul was appointed as a member of the New Jersey State Board of Mortuary Science by Governor Thomas H. Kean from 1983 to 1991 and was a member and past president of the Essex & Union County Funeral Directors Association, NJ State Funeral Directors Association, member and past-president of the Summit Lions Club, and member and past president of the former Summit chapter of UNICO National, a non-profit service organization. He was also a longtime parishioner of the Church of the Little Flower in Berkeley Heights. Paul was a member of the Fairmount Country Club in Chatham, N.J., where he was a longtime, dedicated member of the "Lunch Bunch". He was also a member of Turtle Creek Country Club in Jupiter, Fla., where he enjoyed winters with his wife, JoAnn. Paul is known to be an incredibly generous man with a sharp, quick wit about him. He was loved and cherished by all who knew him and he will be deeply missed. He is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, JoAnn (nee Piserchio). He was the loving father of Angela Ippolito, Paul Ippolito IV, and his wife, Jacki, and Andrea Ippolito, all of Berkeley Heights, and Anthony Ippolito and his wife, Kathy, of Summit. He was the devoted brother of Anne Ippolito of Normandy Beach, N.J.; cherished grandfather of Andrew, Kyra, and Damon Ippolito, Nicolette and Luke Stallone, Jared and Justin VanOostendorp, and Marco and Brielle Ippolito; dear brother-in-law of Matthew (Angie) Piserchio, Dianne Conway, Louis (Pati) Piserchio, Patrick (Sue) Piserchio, and the late Marie (Robert) DeNicola. Paul is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in his memory to Church of the Little Flower, 110 Roosevelt Ave., Berkeley Heights, N.J. 07922 or to ;(function() { var adKeyValue = 't='; adKeyValue+= escape('clio=STJ'); adKeyValue += escape('&cobrand=starledger'); adKeyValue += escape('&linktext=St. Jude Children\'s Research Hospital'); adKeyValue += escape('&linkurl=https://shop.stjude.org/GiftCatalog/donation.do?cID=13522&pID=18290&frequency_selected=2&memoryFirstName=Paul&memoryLastName=Ippolito&sc_cid=ptn1'); adKeyValue += escape('&fn=Paul'); adKeyValue += escape('&ln=Ippolito'); var adClkUrl = 'http://pubads.g.doubleclick.net/gampad/jump?iu=/423686928/prod/obit-aff/obit-standard/clio-inline-1&' + adKeyValue + '&sz=1x1&c=1844126640'; var adImpUrl = 'http://pubads.g.doubleclick.net/gampad/ad?iu=/423686928/prod/obit-aff/obit-standard/clio-inline-1&' + adKeyValue + '&sz=1x1&c=1844126640'; document.write("<a href='" + adClkUrl + "' target=_blank>St. Jude Children\'s Research Hospital<" + 'img' + " src='" + adImpUrl + "' style='width=1px; height=1px; display:inline;' /></a>"); }());, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tenn. 38105.
