Paul William III Paul William Bennett, III, of Wilmington, North Carolina, died Saturday, February 10, 2007, at Lower Cape Fear Hospice and Lifecare Center. He was born in Corning, NY, on March 15, 1949, the son of Dr. Paul William and Patricia Marie Bugman Bennett. Paul was the proud President of Bennett Brothers Yachts, a company he founded over 20 years ago. His unbridled love and enthusiasm for sailing and the history of the Cape Fear region were apparent to all. Paul's fierce devotion to his family kept him relentlessly optimistic throughout his battle with cancer. His bravery left one awestruck. Paul served in many volunteer organizations, most notably the President of the International Yacht Council, former President of the Yacht Brokers of America, former President of the Wilmington Harbor Enhancement Trust, Camillus Ministry for the Catholic Church. He was an active member of St. Mary Catholic Church. He is survived by his wife, Patricia Donovan Bennett; four children, Paul William Bennett IV, Connor Tumblety Bennett, Margaret Abigail Bennett, and Brendan Collins Bennnett; his sisters, Patricia Kahl and husband, Judge David Kahl, Dr. Kathleen Bennett and husband, Dr. Stephen Kondash, Dr. Mary Ann Petrie and husband, Bruce, Barbara Kyrillos and husband, Jean Claude; his brothers, Dr. Gregory Bennett and wife, Gina and Mark Bennett and wife, Betsy; and many, many nieces and nephews. Paul was predeceased by his brother, John Thomas Bennett. The Bennett Family would like to thank the Lower Cape Fear Hospice, Dr. Birgit Arb, and all the angels of mercy that cared for Paul. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, February 15, 2007, at 10 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church. Interment will follow in the Oleander Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Wednesday, February 14, 2007, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Andrews' Market Street Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Friends of St. Mary School, c/o St. Mary School, 217 South Fourth Street, Wilmington, NC 28401. Please make checks payable to Community Fdtn of SENC.
