SOUTHINGTON - Paul A. Williams, 86, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2007 at Southington Care Center. He was the husband of Dorothy Cali Williams. Born on April 10, 1921 in Bronx, N.Y. Paul was the son of the late Charles and Marie Antonia (LoPinto) Williams. Paul graduated from Spartan College of Aeronautics and Technology in Tulsa, Okla., and the University of New York. He taught for over 25 years at Aviation High in Queens, N.Y. Paul took his family out of Bayside, N.Y. and into the town of Ridgefield, n the early 50's, responding to real estate ads in the Sunday Daily News. Paul retired in 1977, keeping his time busy working on exotic automobiles and restoring antique aircraft at his home and at various airports in the tri state area. Paul became an FAA aeronautical inspector at the age of 21. In 2004 he was awarded The Charles Taylor "Master Mechanic" Award from the FAA with 60 plus years of service. He was also a 4th Degree Knight with the Marquette Council Knights of Columbus. Besides his wife, he is survived by his five children, JoAnn W. Mauceri of Morrisville, N.C., Charles Williams and his wife, Alberta of Cave Creek, Ariz., Paula Knight and her husband, Rick of Southington, Andrea Verner and her husband, Glenn of Charlotte, N.C., and Alesia Williams and Daniel Martin of Danbury; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; along with several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be held on Monday, Oct. 29 at 9 a.m. from the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., Southington to Mary Our Queen Church, 248 Savage St., for a Mass at 9:45 a.m. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Ridgefield. Calling hours will be Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. In keeping with Paul's love of aviation and in lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to New England Air Museum, 36 Perimeter Road, Bradley International Airport.
