Paul A. Smith, 77, of DeLand, went to heaven on October 13, 2008 doing what he loved best; riding on his tractor with his dog, Buck, and close to his cows. Paul was born in Pompano, FL and created the P-Bar Ranch in DeLand some 50 plus years ago specializing in mixed cattle and also cattle with a linage from Spain dating back to the 1500's. As a Cattleman, Paul, in his early years, was involved in rodeo bull riding. A true cowboy at heart. Paul loved the Lord Jesus and had been involved with church most of his life. As a dedicated family man he leaves behind his beloved wife, Joyce; Glenn, his son and wife, Cathy of DeLand; daughters, Brenda Smith and Linda Colwell of Lake Helen, FL; five grandchildren, Robert Smith, Joey Rushworth andRachel Colwell, all of Lake Helen FL, Jessie Dobbs and her husband, Patton, Andy and wife, Tina Smith of DeLand; and three great-grandchildren, Riley and Brice Dobbs, and Nolan Decker. A memorial service will be held on the P-Bar ranch at a later date. In lieu of flowers, all memorial donations to go to Morning Star Chapel of DeLand, 1520 East Voorhis Ave., DeLand, FL 32724.
