BREMNER, Patrick James - March 17, 1949 - January 5, 2009 Pat lost his courageous battle with cancer on Monday, January 5, 2009. Born in Swift Current, Saskatchewan on St. Patrick's Day 1949, Pat moved to Calgary in 1971. A devoted husband and father, he loved few things more than Sunday dinner with his family. He was enormously proud of the adults all of his kids grew into. Pat and Wava were inseparable, with careers that allowed them to often work together. Pat had a long and interesting career in the engineering and fabrication industries, working on a wide variety of projects in Canada and around the world. From seismic work in NWT in the 1960's to working in Dubai in recent years, and everything in between. His good humour, wisdom, and personality left a lasting impression on all those who worked with him. He was also an avid sportsman who played hockey and ball in his younger years, and enjoyed golf throughout his life. He was as well a lifelong New York Yankees and Saskatchewan Roughrider fan. He is survived by his wife Wava and his five kids, son Jamie, daughter Jenn (Dean) Almas, stepson Coben Christiansen (Sarah-Jane Plexman), and stepdaughters Billie (Scott) Aaltonen and Robyn Christiansen (Stephen Dunfield), as well as his granddaughters Kirsten and London Almas. He is also survived by his mother Peggy Bremner, brothers Don (Sonia) Bremner and Bob (Carol) Bremner, and sister Joan (John) O'Lain. He was predeceased by his father Jim Bremner in 1999. The family would like to thank the nurses and doctors of Unit 47 of the Tom Baker Cancer Centre for all of their care and support. A Memorial Service will be held at LEYDEN'S Chapel of Remembrance (corner of 17 Avenue and 2 Street S.W.) on Monday, January 12, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, if desired, the family requests memorial donations to the Tom Baker Cancer Centre in care of the Alberta Cancer Foundation (1331 - 29 Street N.W., Calgary, AB T2N 4N2).
