Patrick J. Monaghan, 66, of Whitney Point, died April 20, 2013, after a lengthy illness.He was born Aug. 6, 1946, in New York City to parents Patrick and Catherine (nee Mulligan) Monaghan, according to Scarr Funeral Home, which is handling his funeral arrangements and published his obituary.He was raised and educated in Suffern. For many years, he owned his own window-cleaning business. In later years, he worked for the Ramapo Central School system as a custodian in the high school until his retirement in 2008.Among his passions were working outdoors and reading books about Rockland County history.Survivors include a brother, Charles Monaghan; a sister, Catherine Stockmeyer and her husband, John; two nephews, Eric Stockmeyer and Sean Stockmeyer; and a great-niece, Hailey Stockmeyer.He was preceded in death by his mother, Catherine Monaghan, and a sister, Mary Ellen Monaghan.Visiting hours will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, April 23, at Scarr Funeral Home in Suffern. A graveside funeral will take place at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 24, at Brick Church Cemetery in New Hempstead.
