MALONE, LCpl P.LCpl Patrick Antonio Malone, 21 of Ocala, died Monday, March 9, 2009, in Saqlaweiyah, Iraq, while serving his country in the US Marine Corps. A native of Leominster, Mass., he moved to this area in 1995. Patrick was a graduate of Vanguard High School, where he was in the R.O.T.C. program for 4 years. He later attended college at both the University of South Florida, and Central Florida Community College, before enlisting in the Marine Corps. He was accomplished in the Martial Arts, holding a Brown Belt in Karate. He is survived by his parents, Damian and Neida Lucy Malone, Ocala, step-sisters Andrea Pietronuto of Pelham NY, and Jennifer Hopper of Kingston, NY, maternal grandmother Iris Serrano of Ocala, and paternal grandmother Antonia Malone of Middletown, NJ. A funeral mass will be held at 11:30 AM on Tuesday, March 17, 2009, at Blessed Trinity Catholic Church, 5 SE 17th St., Ocala, with Father Pat Sheedy officiating. Interment will follow in Highland Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 5-8 PM with Prayers at 5 PM at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, 910 SE Silver Springs Blvd., Ocala. At the family's request, memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph's Haiti Parish Twinning Program, P.O.Box 6, Middletown, NY 07748.
