Patricia Walsh Taylor - SAVANNAH - Patricia Walsh Taylor, Savannah, passed away Tuesday, November 30, 2010 at her Wilmington Island home. Born in Savannah in 1932, Patricia was a beloved mother, friend, athlete, coach, and educator in her hometown, as well as her adopted home in the Chicago area, where she lived from 1957 to 2006 and taught at St. Pius X Elementary School. She attended Blessed Sacrament School, St. Vincent's Academy, and Mount St. Agnes College in Baltimore, from which she graduated in 1954 with a degree in education. A lifetime sports enthusiast, Trish played basketball and field hockey at the college level, and coached and refereed for many years. The Cal Ripken of Notre Dame football fans, she attended every home game for nearly fifty years and relished in Saturday's victory over Southern Cal. While making her home in Illinois, she was a fixture among the 9th St. community at Tybee Island in the summers. Tricia was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Eugene Hoban "Hobe" Taylor in 2006, sister Sr. Betty Walsh RSM, and parents Charles V. and Mildred Power Walsh. She is survived by her seven children, Lourdes Schoen (Ken), Michelle Holman (Keith), Jacqueline Brebner (Jed), Moira Castro (Frank), Kieran, Chris (Angela), and Megan Taylor Becksmith (Adam) and grandchildren Kenton, Shane, Caitlyn, Krista, Perrin, Riley, Patrick, Victoria, Clay and Claire. She is also survived by her sisters, Sr. Jude Walsh RSM and May Loncon (Roy), sister-in-law Mary Frances Spalding (Tom), and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held at Fairhaven Funeral Home, Savannah, on Sunday, December 5, from 3-5pm, with a rosary service at 4:00p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday 11am at Blessed Sacrament Church with Fr. Jay Madden officiating. The burial will follow in Illinois next week. Memorial Contributions can be made to The St. Vincent's Academy scholarship fund. Fairhaven Funeral Home Hubert C.
