Patricia Turner Smith Patricia Turner Smith, 83, died Friday, January 29, 2010, at her home in Tallahassee. The service will be at 10:30 a.m. EST Wednesday, February 3, 2010, at St. David's Roman Catholic Church, Davie, Florida, with burial at Our Lady of Mercy, Miami. Visitation will be from 6 until 8 p.m. EST Tuesday, February 2, 2010, Fred Hunter's Taft Street Chapel in Hollywood.A memorial service is being planned for a later date in Tallahassee. Memorial Contributions may be made to Big Bend Hospice, 1723 Mahan Center Blvd., Tallahassee, FL 32308. Mrs. Smith was a native of Greenville, S.C., and was a longtime resident of the Miami/Ft. Lauderdale area, before moving to Tallahassee six years ago. She retired after more than 30 years of service with the Dade County Public School System.She was an avid bowler, who bowled with the Big Bend Hospice team for several years. While in Tallahassee she worshiped at St. Louis Catholic Church. She is survived by five children, Eugene D. Smith, II of Agawam, Mass., Frances Franetic of Gainesville, Ga., Robert W. Smith of Tallahassee, Richard O. Smith of Davie and James A. Smith, also of Tallahassee; two brothers, Arthur Rellis Turner of Boca Raton and Daniel R. Turner of Lake City; nine grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren.Mrs. Smith was preceded in death in 1979, by her husband, Eugene D. Smith and in 1993, by her daughter, Monica E. Barnwell.
