VERNON - Patricia T. Smith was called to her Savior's side on Tuesday, Oct. 26, surrounded by her loving family through an inspiring bout with cancer. Pat was pre-deceased by her husband of nearly 50 years, Garner (2006), her loving son, Jeffrey (2000) and infant son, Garner Jr. (1957). She was a devoted mother to Gary Smith and his wife, Bonnie of Knoxboro, Scott Smith and his wife, Alice of Oneida, Susan Valente and her husband, Rick of North Utica, Connie Smith of North Utica, and Richard Smith and his wife, Jennifer of Canastota. Pat was a caring grandmother to Ben, Becky, Jessica, Tina, Brent, Shawn, Michael, Phillip, Ty and Tanya and six great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by them all, as well as her dear friend Jeannette Baird. She is also survived by her siblings; James Taylor and his wife, Bonnie of Rome, Ed Taylor and his wife, Susan of North Carolina, Peggy Fuller of Rome, and William Taylor and his wife, Patricia of Lee She was a cashier at the Sherrill P&C for 16 years and a member of the Alliance church in Sherrill. In lieu of flowers, Pat asks that you "pay it forward." There will be a tree for your pledges at the church. Calling hours will be held at Malecki Funeral Home in Sherrill on Friday, Oct. 29 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. with a funeral service at the Alliance Church in Sherrill at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 30.
